Human remains found near Ucluelet identified as two missing men

Share

Human remains of two people found near Ucluelet earlier this month have been identified as those of Ryan Daley and Daniel Archbald, who went missing on May 16.

An official statement from RCMP has not been released yet, however, a family member told Victoria Buzz that officials have confirmed the deaths of their loved ones.

An official statement from RCMP is expected on Friday.

The remains were found by a woman who was walking her dog in the area near Ucluelet, according to police.

Archbald, a 37-year-old father of two, and Daley, 43, were on a sailboat that docked in Ucluelet on May 13th, following an eight-week sailing trip from Panama.

They were last seen on security camera footage leaving the Ucluelet dock on foot at around 1:34 p.m. on May 16th, and had been missing ever since.

Surveillance footage shows Archbald leaving the Ucluelet marina, followed shortly after by his friend Daley.

Both men were reported missing after they failed to contact family and friends. The pair’s disappearance was deemed suspicious.

Victoria Buzz reached out to RCMP several times but multiple phone calls were not returned.

Family members are asking anyone with information to come forward.
