Ready to loosen up those limbs?

Next week, Thursday (June 21st), is the International Day of Yoga, and Victoria is celebrating with an outdoor group yoga session on the lawns of the legislature from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The FREE event is approaching its fourth year since being accredited in response to Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s address to the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014.

“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being,” said Modi.

An estimated 1.5 million Canadians practice yoga, and Thursday’s event in Victoria will be presented by Nirmala Raniga – the host of “Journey of Healing” on JoyTV and the founder of the Chopra Wellness and Addiction Center in Squamish, BC.

So grab your yoga mats and head down to the Legislature lawns for some exercise and inner peace!
