It’s the last weekend of June, but don’t worry, there’s still so much to do!

Here are 15 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend.

Saturday, June 23rd

The James Bay Community Market

What: You will love the fine handcrafted wood items, whimsical home décor and naturally crafted body products. We also have top-quality traditional baked goods, speciality sauces and seasonings and dried soup mixes. Hungry? You will find prepared food you can eat right on site in our picnic area. They also have a vast array of farm-fresh products from farm-fresh meats to seasonal veggies and fruits.

FernFest 2018

What: They are celebrating 23 years of arts, music, and community building! We will be rocking out with musicians, performers, food, beer, theatre, bikes, artists, magic, kidz zone, face painting, community pancake breakfast, Field of Dreams, Artisan Market, games, bubbles, walking tours, workshops and so much more! There is no better place to be on the summer solstice weekend – June 22 & 23, 2018. Come and watch the revelry unfurl as Fernwood Square is transformed into a 2-day circus extravaganza of fun with all your best neighbours and friends!

Art in the Vineyard

What: Art lovers will enjoy exploring about 1,000 pieces of donated art, including quality reproductions and original works in oil, watercolour and multimedia, a very wide range of posters, prints and collectables.
40 artists and artisans from South Vancouver Island will present their work on the lawns and under the trees around the historic farmhouse. Their offerings include large original paintings, pottery, prints, photography, clothing, fabric art, decorative accessories, body care, gourmet food, jewelry and wood.
Guests will enjoy a wine and beer garden and an country lunch in and around the old winery building.

Bark in the Park

What: Join Connected Canine Dog Rescue at John Phillips Memorial Park in Sooke for an evening of live music, local food trucks and breweries, a silent auction, 50/50 draw and prizes for best dog tricks and best costume! There will be lots of amazing silent auction items that you won’t want to miss out on!
Connected Canine is fundraising to build a sanctuary where we can rescue, rehab and rehome dogs who have been neglected, abused and abandoned.

Free Cooking Class – Jerk Chicken

What: Learn how to make Jerk Chicken with Mike Haddow. He’ll be teaching you how to make your own homemade authentic rice, peas and slaw, as well as how to create delicious Jerk Chicken.

Youth Pride Kick Off Party!

What: It’s Victoria Pride Society’s First Youth Pride Kick Off Party! Organized by the Youth Engagement Committee.

Music, Pride mocktails & snacks, clothing swap, button making, & clothing graffiti table!
7:45pm Panel and Q&A with some of Victoria’s premiere drag performers, plus a special guest!
9pm Drag show with Staches and Lashes Collective Events

Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival

What: The festival officially kicked off on Wednesday evening and runs straight through to Sunday, and this year promises to be as jam-packed with, uh, jams as it’s always been.

Cost: Full festival passes are sold out; find single tickets online.

VISA Mural Wall BBQ Party

What: This is a celebration of the Vancouver Island School of Art, a community art school that has been providing a place for gathering, art, and experimentation for the past 13 years. Hundreds of murals have been painted on this wall over the years, and this might be the last. Let’s make it count!

Esquimalt Clothing & Toy Exchange

What: This is a once a month event where people can bring clothes to swap for something new-to-them or just bring clothes to donate. The clothing swap is held in a casual setting where people can peruse at their leisure.
Bring a bag of clothing and/or toys, take as much or as little as you want.
Where: Esquimalt United Church

The Legend of Shaolin

What: Audiences will witness the best Shaolin Kung Fu masters display spectacular feats of strength and skill, including breaking copperplates with qigong power skills, climbing knife mountain, and various weapon demonstrations.

Get Cash for the Summer Event

What: Coins of Canada is hosting a free event to give you a chance to earn some money in exchange for the coins, gold, and silver you have buried in the attic or deep in your dresser.

BARK IN THE PARK: Victoria Harbourcats vs  Bellingham Bells

What: Fans are welcome to bring their dog to the game.There are water stations, shade areas and even grassy parts of the park dogs will be allowed in, on leash with their owners.

Sunday Pizza Nights at Merridale

What: The popular Sunday Pizza Nights return this year with a fresh lineup of local live entertainment! Come on the back deck for delicious, house-made brick oven pizzas from our orchard cookhouse.

Fernwood Bites 2018

What: Fernwood’s favourite food and drink tasting event is back for its 9th year. Join friends and neighbours at Fernwood Bites in beautiful Fernwood Square and taste the best food & drink Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island have to offer. At this fabulous event, you will have full reign to enjoy samples from over 30 restaurants, breweries, distilleries, cideries, and wineries. All food and drink samples are included with the purchase of your ticket. You don’t have to choose; you can try them all! This is a 19+ event. Rain-or-shine.

Improv Cabaret

What: Paper Street Theatre presents an eclectic evening of improvised theatre. The first half of the show features students from the Master’s Program and the second half consists of a feature set from the Faculty of Paper Street Theatre’s Improv Classes.
