Extinguishing the flame

The incident occurred in the parking lot behind Chiba Sushi and Sub Stop Shop.

Victoria Buzz spoke to Lorie Jimenez, owner of Sub Stop Shop, who told us that a customer ran into her business asking for a fire extinguisher to help save the man who was on fire.

Lorie’s husband, Jesse, then quickly doused the flames with an extinguisher, after which paramedics, police, and firefighters were called to the site.

Victoria Police, Victoria Fire Department, and the BC Coroners Service are currently investigating the incident.
