Some Salt Spring Island residents advised to boil drinking water (UPDATED)

Share

Update: The boil water advisory is now lifted as the issue has been resolved.

Earlier: Residents living near St. Mary Lake on Salt Spring Island are being told to boil their water before drinking it.

CRD Integrated Water Services and Island Health have just issued this advisory after a water pipeline break was reported Monday afternoon.

The breach can result in extraneous substances entering the water supply in the area.

The advisory will be lifted when Island Health determines that there is no more public health risk in the Highlands Water Service area.

Until then, residents are being told to boil tap water for one minute before drinking.
