RCMP calls off ground search for missing Cobble Hill man

Share

The extensive ground search for Ben Kilmer, a 41-year-old Cobble Hill man who went missing last week, has been called off.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, after consultation with Kilmer’s family, decided to end the search after six days.

The ongoing investigation into his disappearance is a continuing priority for officers, the RCMP said in a statement to Victoria Buzz.

Friends and family are still volunteering their time to locate Kilmer, who was reported missing after his work van was found still running along Cowichan Lake Road near Menzies Creek on Wednesday, May 16.

A Facebook group for volunteers to coordinate search efforts was established to aid in the search.

Kilmer is a husband and father of two. Contrary to prior reports, he’s described as 5’10″, 180 lbs, and has short brown hair and blue eyes. He is clean shaven and was last seen wearing light coloured pants, a black shirt, and steal toed work boots.

If you see Kilmer or have any information about his whereabouts please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
