Police release details related to raid on Saanich-based pot edibles company

Share

In a joint statement Friday, Saanich Police and Island Health released details regarding a raid on a Saanich-based pot edibles facility that took place on April 28.

The release states that Saanich police visited a facility in the 4200 block of Glanford Ave, and found an industrial kitchen-style with what was believed to be various forms of cannabis.

Once judicial authorization to search the premise was granted, police seized a number of products within the facility, including pot edibles.

Island Health disposed of the seized products. Island Health issued a ban on edible pot products a year ago due to current legislation prohibiting their sale.

Details around raid were initially kept secret

Friday’s statement did not confirm the name of the business that police investigated, but multiple sources told CTV last week that it was Mota Cannabis Products, one of the biggest edible businesses in the country.

Police were on site at the Glanford building for well over a week, but official details were scarce until now.

Saanich police are still working with various agencies, and the investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been recommended at this time.
