Song, dance, a colourful display of martial arts, and delicious, free food – what’s not to love?!

Join Victoria’s Sikh community as they celebrate Vaisakhi: a commemoration of the birth or establishment of the order of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, in 1699.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 29th, and is being organized by the Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Victoria.

The parade will begin and end at 470 Cecelia Road, following a route through Napier Lane, Burnside Road and Jutland Road. The festivities are expected to last all day, from 10 AM to 4 PM, but the procession itself will take place between 11AM and 1PM.

Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world and has about 30 million followers, with over 400,000 of them residing in Canada.

The Vaisakhi parade in Surrey, BC this year took place on Sunday, April 22nd, and drew in hundreds of thousands of people, earning it the title of one of the largest Khalsa Day parades in the world.

Victoria’s event is also expected to attract thousands of participants.
