On April 25th, at around 10:30 PM, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes on Highway 17 between Mount Newton Cross Road and Island View Road in Central Saanich.
He was rushed to Victoria General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Family and friends have since identified the victim as Mike Underwood, and a GoFundMe account was set up to help his family pay for funeral costs and other expenses until they can return to work.
Underwood was a husband, a father of four, and soon to be grandfather, before the tragic accident took his life.
