Not too long ago, most of the learning about cannabis on college campuses came in the form of late night texts about prices and pick-up spots.
But now, with legalization on the horizon, Camosun College is offering students a chance to deepen their knowledge of the “budding” industry.
Over the next two months, Camosun will offer a Growing Cannabis for Professionals course through its continuing education program.
“Prepare for employment in the emerging and regulated cannabis industry,” reads the course description.
“The cannabis workforce requires working professionals from areas such as business, technology, science and more who have a theoretical understanding of the fundamentals: The cannabis plant.”
Learning How To Become a Licensed Cannabis Producer
Though the course runs from May 7 – Jun 15, it’s billed as a self-paced online course that allows students to learn the requirements to produce cannabis for a Licensed Producer under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR).
Topics covered:
- Propagation
- Appropriate use of resources
- Crop Management,
- Troubleshooting
“Complete your studies part-time from anywhere, any time – there is no need to come to campus!” The description continues.
“Online learning resources include discussions, quizzes, readings, and guidance from skilled cannabis cultivator and advocate Travis Lane.”
