Calling all bookworms!
If you’ve got a favourite read that’s written by a local author, now is the time to show your appreciation by submitting it to win a prize at the annual Victoria Book Prizes.
For the 15th year, the Victoria Book Prize Society is celebrating the work of authors and illustrators from Greater Victoria at its fall awards gala.
The prizes up for grabs are the $5,000 City of Victoria Butler Book Prize for the best book published in the preceding year in the categories of fiction, literary non-fiction, or poetry, and the $5,000 Bolen Books Children’s Book Prize awarded to an author or illustrator of children’s or youth literature.
“Greater Victoria is known for its literary talent,” said Mayor Lisa Helps. “The annual City of Victoria Butler Book Prize celebrates the creative works of local authors and we’re excited to see this year’s submissions. I know it will be another outstanding collection of must reads.”
The books submitted for this year’s prize must have been published between April 1st, 2017 and March 31st, 2018.
