Victoria Buzz will livestream the official Johnson Street Bridge opening this Saturday

Share

ICYMI: the City of Victoria will be commemorating the first functioning day of the new Johnson Street Bridge on Saturday, March 31st, by hosting a Hello New, Goodbye Blue celebration – and everyone’s invited!

But for those of you who can’t make it down for the party, join us from the comfort of your own home.

Victoria Buzz has partnered up with Roll. Focus. Productions again to bring you crystal clear views of the proceedings at the bridge, through the lenses of multiple high definition cameras and a drone!

Tune in to our Facebook page at 11:55 AM onwards to see everything happening down at the new and old bridges, and have the opportunity to win several prizes during our giveaways.

Photos to commemorate the event

This Saturday will also be your chance to meet one of Victoria’s greatest photographers, Doug Clement!

He’ll be hanging out at Willie’s Cafe & Bakery from 10 AM to 4 PM, waiting to give away a free over-sized postcard of the last day of the old bridge, or the first day of the new bridge, to everyone who goes and says hi.

If you’ve seen his photos on Victoria Buzz and wanted to purchase prints, he’ll have some on hand so ask him about prices and sizes!

Or just drop by and talk to him about his photography – it’s a free meet and greet event.

Out with the old, in with the new

The new Johnson Street Bridge will be open to pedestrians on Saturday afternoon, and to vehicles by Saturday evening. Click here for the full traffic details over the weekend.

In the meantime, we’re celebrating the life of trusty old Blue with the City of Victoria.

Fun fact: Did you know that the Blue Bridge was originally painted black?!
