Email appears to confirm Costco’s plans to open up Saanich Peninsula location

A Victoria Buzz article posted on Tuesday revealing a potential North Saanich Costco location stirred up controversy and prompted denials, but an email from representatives of Costco Langford appears to confirm that a new warehouse is, in fact, in the works.

In an email on February 20th to PAC Presidents of School District 63, Sandi Danshin and Dave Hoover (Business and Membership Representative s of Costco Wholesale Langford) stated the following:

“Basically, we have been given a little creative license to host some special events to promote membership in preparation for our new warehouse to open on the Saanich Peninsula in about 1 1/2 years or so. Dave and I came up with this idea to support the schools and do something different.”

The email goes on to describe the details of a membership drive on March 10 and 11th.

Potential Location:

Costco Canada declined to comment on the potential new warehouse, but Victoria Buzz sources say that one could open up in North Saanich as soon as 2019.

The new Costco location would reportedly be located on Mills Road.

That land, however, is owned by the Victoria International Airport who leases it out to prospective businesses.

Geoff Dickson, President and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority, denied that any talks with Costco regarding that area of land had taken place.
