A dog belonging to a widow with two young sons has suspiciously disappeared near Thetis Lake on Wednesday and may have been stolen.

“Tucker” was last seen with an unknown man at the top of Scafe Hill. Before that, he was with his dog walker Kym Spencer.

According to a Facebook post, Spencer said Tucker was with her pack until she turned to talk to a man who asked for trail directions to the peak.

The man “acted as though Tucker was his”

“I told him I’d lead him to a trail but was too unwell to go to the peak and walked ahead of him. After 2 min I turned around on the narrow trail and he was nowhere in sight,” she wrote.

Approximately 20 minutes later, a group of hikers reportedly saw the man at the Scafe Hill peak with Tucker. However, the man acted like the dog was his own, so the hikers didn’t suspect him.

The man is described as aged around 30 with a slim build, 5’11”, wearing a black Patagonia jacket with a yellow jacket over it, a grey toque, white earbuds, dark running shoes, with blue eyes and sandy hair.

Spencer also added that FLED (Find Lost & Escaped Dogs Vancouver Island), ROAM (Reuniting Owners with Animals Missing), the CRD, Police, Craigslist, and Usedvic have all been notified.
