Vancouver Island’s Cassie Sharpe has won gold for Canada in ski halfpipe at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
The 25-year-old from Comox, B.C. put up a score of 95.80 on her second of three runs. Her score was more than enough to claim the gold medal on Tuesday. This is her first Olympic Games.
This is Canada’s 18th medal, sitting in third in the medal standings behind Norway and Germany.

Marie Martinod of France took silver with her best run of 92.60 while Brita Sigourney of the U.S. captured bronze with a score of 91.60.
