Share

In case you haven’t heard, a new online “challenge” has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. For reasons that are not entirely clear, people have been eating Tide Pods, and getting sick and injured as a result.

In an effort to prevent locals from becoming a part of the unfortunate trend, Saanich Police released a video on Wednesday titled “Tide Pod Challenge NOT ACCEPTED”.

The result is surprisingly hilarious, garnering hundreds of Facebook likes and shares.

Highlights include plenty of dad jokes, a slow-motion “waterfall” scene, and the creation of the #nopodinyourbod hashtag.

Saanich Police Tide Pod Challenge NOT ACCEPTED

Yes it’s true… Apparently you have to warn more than just toddlers of the dangers of eating detergent pods. There’s a recent, and dangerous, trend occurring on social media where teens are challenging each other to take the “Tide pod challenge” – putting a pod in their mouth, biting it and releasing the liquid inside. These pods are highly concentrated detergent meant only to clean clothes. They are highly toxic and can cause significant harm if ingested. Please don't take this ridiculous challenge. Know what to eat and what not to eat… #NoPodInYourBod.
