Petition launched to rename BC Transit double decker bus after the “Bus Boy”

Share

The unexpected passing of a beloved Victoria boy last weekend has lead to an outpouring of love, support, and – potentially – a renamed BC Transit bus.

Four-year-old Dominic Orr passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday morning. Appearing several times on CTV News‘ “Sawatsky Sign-Off” segments, Orr was known for his joyful demeanour and love of BC Transit buses.

Dominic was also born with Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder that affected his muscles and his ability to speak. But nevertheless, his excitement and happiness were palpable.

Community Responds Through GoFundMe and Change.org

Over $5000 has been raised on a GoFundMe page for Dominic’s mother, Stephanie Orr, to help ease her financial burden. To help the campaign reach its $25,000 goal, click here.

A petition to name a bus the “Dominic Orr Double Decker” has also popped up on change.org. Stephanie Orr commented on the campaign, calling it a “terribly wonderful thing to do” and that Dominic “would absolutely love this.”
