Victoria police are investigating a home invasion in the 1300-block of Topaz Avenue that took place at approximately 8:50 a.m. Tuesday.
The two victims involved in the home invasion suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the suspects fled in a blue Volkswagen Jetta with reflective tape on the bumper.
Just over an hour later, a vehicle matching the description of the suspect car was set on fire in a parking lot in the 2900-block of Washington Avenue, near the Gorge Waterway.
While the two case does appear linked, police said it is too early to tell if it is related to the home invasion.
“Investigators from our Major Crime Detective Division and Forensic Identification Unit are in the beginning stages of the investigation,” VicPD said in a statement. “It is too early to say if there is any risk to the public.”
Investigators are looking for witnesses who may have seen the blue Jetta driving erratically on Finlayson Avenue or in the area of Blanshard and Finlayson between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Anyone with information is asked to call VicPD at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
