Canada has cliched their first gold medal of this Olympic Games! It comes in team figure skating.
Standing atop the podium together were Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Gabrielle Daleman.

Daleman’s performance secured the gold, with her 137.14 point performance bringing the team score to 63. This put them ahead of Russia at 58, and USA at 53. Virtue and Moir were the cherry on top, closing with a score of 118.10 and bringing the team to a final score of 73. The Canadian team certainly asserted their position on top of the podium.
Other medal highlights from the day:
Mikael Kingsbury earned Canada’s gold in the men’s moguls. The 25 year old from Deux-Montagnes, Quebec put on a dominating performance, finishing with a score of 86.63, well ahead of Australia’s Matt Graham and Japan’s Daichi Hara.

In the Slopestyle Snowboard, Canada recieved more hardware as Laurie Blouin of Stoneham, Quebec earned the silver medal. Battling challenging winds, her second run put her at 76.33 points for the podium.
