Mysterious urn washes up on shore in Sidney

Share

Last Saturday, a Sidney resident contacted their local RCMP detachment with a rather strange finding.

They reported an urn that appears to have washed up near the seawall on Lochside Drive in Sidney.

It’s a blue metal urn with a silver ring on the bottom and top, and weighs about 25 lbs – and it was found without a lid.

The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP have speculated that it was possibly tossed into the sea and has accidentally washed up on shore.

The BC Coroner’s Service was made aware of the discovery, but will not be involved since this is classified as a “found property file”.

If you have any information about the urn, please contact the Sidney / North
Saanich RCMP Detachment, your local police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800- 222-
8477 (TIPS).
