Lisa Helps has confirmed that she will be seeking re-election as Mayor of Victoria in the 2018 municipal electon.
“I’ve decided to run for Mayor for one more term. In the past three years we’ve accomplished almost everything in my 2014 platform. In addition to lots of doing, we’ve created detailed, forward-looking plans that I’d like to see through to implementation,” Lisa Helps wrote in a blog post.
Helps unseated former Mayor Dean Fortin in 2014 with an 89 vote difference of 9,200 votes to 9,111 votes. She also defeated six other candidates.
Voter turnout for the last election was 39.10 per cent.
The next B.C. general local election will take place in Victoria on October 20th, 2018.
