Share

Did you wake up to a tree or a trampoline in your yard today?

You’re not the only one – reports of (identifiable) flying objects have been streaming in this morning, as well as those of power outages across Vancouver Island and parts of the lower mainland.

B.C. Hydro has just released a list of areas on the island that have been affected by the outages, and it looks like about 14,469 people are in the dark this morning.

Here’s the damage as of 10 AM on Sunday, January 21st:

  • Central Saanich: 227 people affected
  • Central Saanich/North Saanich: 594 people affected
  • Langford/View Royal: 764 people affected
  • North Saanich: 1,086 people affected
  • Oak Bay/Saanich: 2,072 people affected
  • Sidney: 71 people affected
  • Victoria: 718 people affected

A few of the reasons for the power outages are listed as “tree down across wires” or “wire down”, but most of them are still under investigation.
