Fairfield Fish and Chips will close for good in February

Share

A Fairfield community staple will be closing its doors for good this February.

Fairfield Fish and Chips is unwelcome to renew their lease for March, making Sunday, February 25th its final day of operation.

Rob Russell, the owner and chef said in a facebook post today that “my lease is up February 28th and and Dutton Realty (my landlord) doesn’t want a fish and chip on the premises anymore.”

The shop was first established in 1995 by Dave and Tanta Pennington, before eventually being succeeded by Rob in 2005.

A part of the Fairfield community

Being a short walk from Sir James Douglas (SJD) elementary, Rob was particularly fond of being able to provide a way to connect with the local kids and community.

“I have considered myself and ‘The Shop’ to be part of the community and will miss my longtime customers and customers from afar… especially the kids from SJD, as they always brighten up my day when they come in,” he said.

So go get a taste of that flaky deep fried halibut and experience what’s had those SJD students coming back for years after their graduation.
