Environment Canada issues wind warning for Greater Victoria this afternoon

Share

Hold on to your hats, Victoria!

This afternoon, Environment Canada issued a wind advisory for Greater Victoria, as a result of an intense Pacific low pressure system moving across Vancouver Island.

70 to 90 km/h winds

High winds were the reason why the Johnson Street Bridge deck span installation was postponed today, and for good reason.

They’re expected to reach gusts of 70 to 90 km/h before slowing down later this afternoon, as the low weakens and moves inland.

We’ve already seen one case of a loose fence crashing into cars in Langford, so be careful out there, folks!
