5 things to do in and around Victoria today – Wednesday, January 17th

It’s hump day! You’re officially halfway done the work week Victoria!

Here are 5 events that are happening today!

1. Community Yoga

What: Kaitlyn Ross will be hosting our weekly free yoga class. All you need to do is come down to the store at 616 Yates st with your mat; class if free but if you wish to leave a donation all proceeds will be going to Bear coast.

2. Swap those Clothes!

Swap those clothes

What: Bring your forget-me-nots and long-forgotten garments, and fill your boots with others’ well-worn treasures. All clothing and accessories are welcome, and what doesn’t get taken will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul thrift store.

The style of swap is a free for all, meaning that there is no limitation on how many things you can bring/take. Please, no household items.

The event costs $10 at the door, which includes a drink of your choice (fresh pint from Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., craft cocktail, or a delicious non-alcoholic beverage).

No-one turned away for lack of funds. Bring a reusable bag (we’ll have some paper ones just in case).

Clothing and items can be dropped off same-day, beginning at 3 pm.

When: Drop off starts at 3 pm, event occurs 6 pm – 9 pm
Cost: $10

3. Phillips Comedy Night at the Mint

Phillips Comedy Night

What: Every Wednesday Morgan Cranny and Drew Farrance bring the best comedians in the city together for a fresh, fun night of laughs at best place to see stand up in downtown Victoria!

Comedy night at The Mint is sponsored by Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. Come downstairs and enjoy a special comedy menu featuring Phillips beer and delicious west coast Himalayan cuisine.

Where: The Mint

When: 8 pm – 9:30 pm
Cost: $7 online or $10 at the door

 

4. Pet Cafe at UVic

Pet Cafe

What: Missing your pet? Stressed about school? Come to the Interfaith Chapel to love-up some animals. Enjoy tea, coffee, and cookies while connecting with cuddly creatures. This is a drop-in program and anyone is welcome to attend.
Where: Uvic Interfaith Chapel
When: 2:30 pm – 4 pm
Cost: Free

5. Karaoke Wednesday!

Copper Owl Karaoke

What: Tens of thousands of songs to choose from including indie rock, pop hits, classic rock, oldies, b-sides and more!!
Where: Copper Owl

When: 9 pm – 2 am (approximately)
Cost: No Cover
