Saturday, January 20th

1. Women’s March Canada – Victoria March

What: Thousands of Victorians are expected to assemble in Centennial Square to take part in the annual Women’s March, slated to start at 11 AM.

2. Traxxas Monster Truck Tour

What: Victoria, BC. will be motorsport entertainment’s epicentre with the nation’s most competitive MONSTER TRUCKS, as the TRAXXAS Monster Truck Tour invades the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on January 20th. See this incredible 10,000-pound, car crushing giants compete in racing, wheelie contests, and then rock the house with amazing freestyle action during the TRAXXAS Monster Truck Tour! Plus, you can meet the drivers and see the trucks up close at the pre-event Autograph Pit Party!

3. Bad Mama Jama IV (feat. Savard)

What: The Mama Jama is back and badder than ever! It’s like mambo #5 with extra jive because we keeping it live! This time we’ve got stand up comedy featuring Daniel Belkin, Henok Meresa, and Darren Millar + guests, hosted by Quincy Thomas with music by Savard. All ages (mature content)

4. Museum Tots: Shipwrecks

What: This weekly program introduces children ages 2 – 5 to the fun world of museum learning. Each week’s program revolves around a new theme, allowing children to learn through crafts, play, song, and dance.

5. Esquimalt Clothing & Toy Exchange

Toy exchange

What: This is a once a month event where people can bring clothes to swap for something new-to-them or just bring clothes to donate. The clothing swap is held in a casual setting where people can peruse at their leisure. Bring a bag of clothing, toys and/or bedding, take as much or as little as you want.

6. Fish in a Birdcage

7. Powerlifting 101 Workshop

What: This New workshop teaches you everything you will need to know about powerlifting. The big 3 exercises: Barbell Squat, Bench press and Dead-lift, how to do them and what can go wrong. This workshop covers skeletal anatomy and its effect on movement, soft tissue involvement, muscle involvement, form, posture, positioning, warming up, preparatory exercises, assessments, movement compensations, corrective exercises and stretches to increase technique, and much more. We will teach you how to train others, powerlifting myths and how to prepare for a competition.

8. Clothing Swap

What: Come enjoy some great drinks, delicious eats, and get a chance to score some new-to-you clothes! Clean out your closet and bring your items that are in good condition to the Fernwood Inn for a clothing swap. Arrive at 2:30 to set up your clothes and the swap will start at 3:00. The manager graciously is letting us use the backroom so please plan on spending some $$$ at the restaurant if you are planning on coming.

9. Sweet Sundays

What: Women’s community building climbing session. Come to get some technique and training tips or show up just to meet climbing partners and have fun. $5 for members, $20 for non-members.

10. Breaker’s Jam

What:  Calling all Hip-hop dancers, bboys and bgirls, trickers and parkor runners! We invite you to come practice during our open-level Drop-in on Sunday nights from 8-10pm for those ages 16 and up. We offer a safe, inclusive and unique training space for you to connect with your community and to build your skills! We have gymnastics mats, blocks as well as floor space for you to practice safely!

11. Nerdledge VI – Star Trek vs. Star Wars

What: A trivia night for fans of Star Wars and Star Trek. Questions will range from easy to trickier than the Kessel Run after a night on Saurian Brandy.
Know one, but not the other? Time to find a friend who is the opposite! Teams from 2 – 6 (though you can run it solo, if you want). $10 cover, includes your stay and play fee to game afterwards.
