Win a $500 gift card to the Bay Centre when you vote for your favourite tree at the Festival of Trees

It’s officially only 4 days until December 25th, and we know just where you can go to find inspiration for your Christmas tree decorations.

The 26th annual Festival of Trees is a display of the most fabulous and creatively adorned Christmas trees in town, and it’s currently happening at the Bay Centre – but it will only be there for 2 more weeks!

The greatest thing about this particular Victorian Christmas tradition is that YOU get to vote for your favourite tree and donate to the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation at the same time.

And this year, when you vote, you also get entered to WIN a $500 Bay Centre Gift card! All voters will be entered in the contest, and the winner will be drawn on January 2nd.

Here’s how you can vote:

Each tree has a sign with a unique code that corresponds with their tree number – for example, the Victoria Buzz tree is #31.

Once you’ve noted down the code of your favourite tree, there are a few different ways to cast your vote.

  • In person: If you’re already at the Bay Centre, all you have to do is cast your vote (and donation) at one of the several voting stations scattered amongst the trees.
  • Text-to-vote: Text your favourite tree number to 45678. For example, if you’d like to vote for the Victoria Buzz tree, text “TREE031” to the number 45678 and follow the three-step prompting for your vote to be complete.
  • Text-to-donate: If you can’t pick your favourite tree (we won’t blame you – there are so many great ones to choose from!) but would still like to donate and get entered to win the $500 gift card, just  text the word “TREE” to 45678 and follow the prompted steps.

Last year’s Festival of Trees event raised a whopping $170,500 for the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation. This year’s goal is to surpass that amount.

Helping the future generation

“I have been helping families find homes in Victoria for over 20 years, and I am proud to support them during their most challenging times – when facing the reality of a sick child,” says Rashida Malik of Royal LePage Coast Capital Realty. Rashida sponsors the Text-to-Vote feature at the Festival of Trees – without her support, it would have been too expensive to implement.

“My grandfather always told me that children are rare pearls and diamonds – our most precious gifts. As a mother and grandmother myself, I know there is nothing more important than a healthy future for our communities children.”

“For this reason, I am proud to support the BC Children’s Hospital Festival of Trees Victoria for a second year in his honour.”
