Environment Canada issues special snowfall statement for Christmas Eve

Share

Santa’s reindeer might be visiting Victoria in conditions they’re more familiar with this Christmas as a special weather statement has been issued for all of Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada is predicting snow to fall across the island on Christmas Eve.

Snowfall amounts are uncertain at this point, but the possibility of reasonable accumulation remains realistic, particularly at points of higher elevation.

According to Environment Canada, a frontal system is developing over the Pacific and is set to reach the Island on Sunday and bring measurable amounts of snow with it.

Posted temperatures are highs for the day. Sunday should see a low zero degrees, while Monday should see a low of -1.

For those travelling Christmas Eve, it is recommended to keep a close eye on environment Canada and driveBC.

Stay safe out there!
