Parts of Vancouver Island wake up blanketed in snow (PHOTOS)

Many people around Vancouver Island woke up to a white winter wonderland this morning, as promised by an Environment Canada advisory on Monday.

The flurries have accumulated and caused Sooke Road to close completely. Authorities are were warning drivers earlier to avoid driving on the Malahat. School District #62 is closed, but will remain staffed.

So no matter how pretty the snow is, it can also be quite treacherous – remember to be careful out there!
