3-year-old injured after alleged dog bite at a Saanich daycare

A 3-year-old had to be taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after sustaining injuries from what police say is a dog bite.

According to a CTV News report, she had to stay at the hospital overnight and undergo surgery after allegedly being attacked by a one-year-old Husky-Malamute cross at the daycare Giggles and Grins on Burnside Road West.

The husband of the daycare operator spoke to CTV denying that the dog bit her.

He argues that the child’s injuries may have resulted from the puppy using his nose to push the sharp edge of a yogurt cup into her face. The pet does not have a known history of violence.

Police and Island Health are both in the early stages of investigating the incident.
