Weather alerts have been issued for North and East Vancouver Island tonight

Share

If you’re in North or East Vancouver Island tonight, watch out for bad weather!

Environment Canada has issued public weather alerts for parts of Vancouver Island. Take a look below.

East Vancouver Island

Parts of East Vancouver Island from Courtenay to Campbell River, and from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay are expected to get some strong winds up to 70 km/h tonight and into Sunday morning.

It will be caused by an intense frontal system moving over the South Coast tonight, but the winds will gradually ease up throughout the day as the system moves away.

North Vancouver Island

A slow moving frontal system is making its way across northern Vancouver Island tonight, bringing heavy rain to northwestern sections of Vancouver Island including Port Alice.

Up to 100 mm of rain is expected to fall on parts of the Island, so watch out for flash floods and water pooling!

If you want to report severe weather conditions (or are going storm watching this weekend), send an email to ec.tempetepacifique-pacificstorm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
