On Wednesday, November 8th at around 2:30 AM fire crews rushed to the Mustard Seed Church downtown after getting reports of a blaze.
They were able to stop the flames before it reached the inside of the church/food bank, limiting the damage to the exterior.
However, the fire was reported to be suspicious, prompting an arson investigation by the Victoria Police Department.
On Thursday, officers were able to identify and arrest a suspect – Michael Willman – who is still in custody after a tele-bail hearing. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Vic PD has also been made aware of several garbage-bin fires, but at this time investigators have no information to suggest that these incidents are related to the Mustard Seed arson.
