Kick off your first November weekend in style! With 48 hours of time to spend – depending on how much sleeping you do – the world is your oyster! So, we’ve compiled a list of 14 things to do in and around Victoria this weekend.

Saturday, November 4

Deco De Mode 10 year anniversary party

  • What: Deco De Mode is turning 10! And they’ve invited you along to celebrate. There will be wine, appy’s, gift bags, and a day of laughter. All proceeds to various local women’s charities!
  • Where: Deco De Mode, 1014 Broad St.
  • When: Saturday, 10am – 4pm.

The Secret Garden

  • What: Based on a 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this classic story is about the healing powers of love and family connection. Take in some theatre on your Sunday or Saturday afternoon!
  • Where: MacPherson Playhouse. 
  • When: Saturday & Sunday, 2pm – 4pm.
  • Cost: $12-$22.

Sea Glass Ornaments Workshop

  • What: Decorate for the holidays with sea glass and learn more about local beaches! Their workshop leader will guide you through the process of various wire-wrapping techniques to make beautiful sea glass ornaments while sharing stories of some of British Columbia’s local beaches and the legends of “mermaid tears”!
  • Where: Maritime Museum, 634 Humboldt St.
  • When: Saturday, 2 pm.

Harvest Dinner

  • What: Enjoy a 5-course dinner created by some of the top chefs and bakers in Victoria, and top chefs and bakers of the future. Proceeds go to the Growing Chefs Program, a non-profit society, to educate children, families and community members about healthy eating and healthy food systems. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the island’s talent, both established and the future, enjoy a phenomenal meal and support a wonderful charity.

Victoria Royals vs. Kelowna Rockets

  • What: It’s “turn back the clock night” with the Victoria Royals! Assemble your best 80’s outfit, and wow the crowd with your best costume. Prizes and the league’s highest scoring team await!
  • Where: Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena
  • When: Saturday, 7:05 pm puck drop.
  • Cost: Starting at $18.50.

Kimura Parker plays Brahms

  • What: Paying tribute to the legendary pianist Glenn Gould, this concert features some of his favourite music including the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 played by another extraordinary Canadian, Jon Kimura Parker.
  • Where: Royal Theatre, 805 Broughton St.
  • When: Saturday, 8:00 pm.
  • Cost: Tickets start at $35.

Strike Midnight fashion show

  • What:  The Bay Centre’s iconic centre court will transform into a majestic ballroom to host a sophisticated evening of runway shows, wine bars, live performances, DJs, dancing, and more. They’re throwing the hottest party of the year, and it’s all about high fashion! The models will be showcasing some of the most alluring outfits crafted by local designers and boutiques.

Fall Market Bazaar

  • What: The Fall Bazaar at St. Aidan’s United Church is THE most anticipated Victoria marketplace for incredible quality, value and sheer quantity of merchandise on offer. Coffee, tea, muffins and gourmet hot dogs are also available to help keep your energy level high while you shop.
  • Where: St. Aidan’s United Church, 3703 St. Aidan’s Street.
  • When: Saturday, 10am – 3pm.

UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre at Shark Club

  • What: Watch the highly anticipated return of Canadian UFC legend Georges St. Pierre as he returns to the octagon! He will be making his first start since 2013.
  • Where: Shark Club Victoria, 2852 Douglas St.
  • When: Saturday, 7pm – 10pm.
  • Cost: Depends on how much beer you drink!

The Makehouse Grand Opening

  • What: They opened their new space on October 4th and have started hosting workshops in their new location. They invite you to join them to officially celebrate the grand opening and belated fifth birthday! There will be door prizes and superb promotions throughout the day.

Star Wars: Armada Tournament

  • What: Prove your gaming skills in a Star Wars: Armada tournament. Store credit, Star Wars Prize cards, and Elite Prize Items and Sets are available prizes.

Pumpkin Smash 2017

Dixieland & Swing: CanUS Jazz Band

  • What: The local CanUS Jazz Band is still going strong after 26 years, and continues to delight fans with their traditional jazz and swing repertoire. Vocals are a major part of their performances, which stems originally from a love of the Boswell Sisters of New Orleans and arrangements that they still perform. The three-part harmonies, as well as individual vocals, add an extra dimension to their traditional jazz pieces. Don’t miss this eclectic and highly rated show!

  • When: Sunday, 3pm – 6pm.

Victoria Grizzlies vs. Trail Smoke Eaters

  • What: The Victoria Grizzlies currently sit 2nd in the Island division, with a 10-7-2 record. The Grizzlies will be wearing their 3rd jerseys, which will be auctioned off on November 24th in support of Movember. Come support the squad!
  • Where: The Q Center Arena, 1767 Island Highway.
  • When: Sunday, 2 pm puck drop.
  • Cost: Senior/Student: $10. Adult: $15
