NDP Convention held at Victoria Conference Centre this weekend

Share

This weekend has been a busy one at the Victoria Conference Centre.

The B.C. NDP now holds the proverbial reigns after 16 years of Liberal party rule, and this was their first celebratory membership convention since their rise to power.

British Columbia Premier John Horgan and Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh both addressed the audience to talk about the issues at hand.

Key issues include restructuring B.C. Ferries

According to CHEK News, the topics discussed included the fate of the controversial Site C dam, affordable rental housing, health care, child care, and a promise of change to B.C. Ferries.

Horgan also talked about the fact that as a Premier from Vancouver Island, he knows the importance of B.C. Ferries, and the party may be leaning towards a total restructuring of the company.

The convention will be wrapping up with a closing ceremony this afternoon.
