This holiday season, Threshold Housing Society wants to light up the largest tree in Bastion Square – but they need your help.
The non-profit organization is aiming to raise $100,000 this Christmas to help provide safe homes for our community’s homeless youth.
IF they hit their target, they will light up the Christmas tree in Bastion Square with 10,000 sparkling lights – one for every $10 donated.
“If we reach our goal,” says Mark Muldoon, Executive Director of Threshold, “that tree will be a shining symbol of support for homeless youth in our community. Every time a light is lit, it represents someone who cares for a struggling, desperate youth in our community. That’s a powerful Christmas message.”
The organization hopes to raise $100,000 by November 25th, and if they do, the tree light-up event (Shine a Light on Youth) will be held the very same day, with plenty of music and hot chocolate to go around!
Mayor Lisa Helps will be ‘flipping the switch’ to turn on the lights.
