On Remembrance Day, November 11, BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission will waive the cost of riding the bus to military personnel in uniform — including cadets—and to all riders with Army, Navy or Air Force Association cards.

The complimentary rides are provided to any member, past or present, who is in uniform or presents their Canadian Forces identification and applies to both traditional and handyDART services.

The free service applies to all routes within the Victoria Regional Transit System, and is a small gesture to honour the men and women who serve or have served in the Canadian Armed Forces,” said Jonathon Dyck, BC Transit, Communications Manager.

BC Transit encourages the community to show its support and use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies at various locations in the Capital Region.

BC Transit is also encouraging operators when it is safe to do so, to stop their bus at 11:00 a.m. to observe the traditional minute of silence in memory of Canada’s war veterans and active military members.

Buses will run on a regular Saturday schedule. For more information on routes and schedules, visit the BC Transit website. Saturday-level service will also apply on Monday, November 13.
