The Victoria Track Series finished its eighth season this year and to celebrate they’re hosting their annual fundraising party at the Strathcona Hotel, and you’re invited!

Head over to the Maple Room, above the Sticky Wicket, from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, October 15.

The first 40 people to arrive will each receive two Victoria HarbourCats tickets to any game during the 2018 season.

For the $10 registration fee, you will be able to enjoy a beverage, appetizers, and draw prizes!

Meet two-time Olympian Bruce Deacon

Additionally, two-time Olympian and running coach Bruce Deacon will be on hand to say a few words.

Deacon has run marathons under 2:20 over 20 times. He has also competed in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and earned a medal in the Pan Am Games. He is a two-time winner of the California International Marathon and won the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon.

“Currently, [Deacon] coaches and manages the most successful youth training group in Canada, the Prairie Inn Harriers Youth Team,” said organizer Christopher Kelsall. “It will be worth chatting with him about your running.”

Chat Harbourcats with Jim Swanson

Jim Swanson, owner of the Victoria HarbourCats, will also be on hand to meet, greet and say a few words. Swanson is a former pro baseball player and spent two decades as a sports editor with the Prince George Citizen.

“Swanson, with a solid management team, run the most successful West Coast League franchise and one of the all-time most successful sports franchises in Victoria’s history,” added Kelsall.

“They have broken several attendance records and win-streak records too.”
