Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries after crash in Saanich

A 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by an SUV that lost control on Gorge Road West Wednesday morning.

Saanich police said the pedestrian was struck around 11:30 a.m. near Gorge Road W and Donald Street.

A 2003 Chevrolet Suburban was heading east on Gorge Road West when it mounted the sidewalk, striking the pedestrian before coming to a stop in the park.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old Saanich woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Road closures have been implemented in the area to accommodate a police investigation.

Saanich Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
