Nanaimo parents warn of elderly lady allegedly attempting to lure children

A series of similar incidents posted on social media has mid-island parents on edge.

According to a Facebook post, three separate incidents involving an elderly lady offering rides to children at bus stops have happened recently.

Beverley Anita posted on Facebook on October 11, warning that her 13-year-old daughter was also approached near a bus stop in Departure Bay and offered a ride at around 7:30 a.m., by an older lady.

Anita said the woman had white hair and was in an older car.  In her post, she included a screenshot of a previous warning from another parent in Nanaimo.

All cases were reported to the RCMP.

Cst. Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP told Victoria Buzz they have looked into the incidents as a result of the Facebook posts and said “nothing was found to merit further investigation.”
