Dracula takes over Ballet Victoria at McPherson Theatre

Share

This Halloween season, get ready to be whisked away to the land of the undead!

For their 15th season, Ballet Victoria will be bringing their own exquisite rendition of Bram Stoker’s Dracula to McPherson Theatre, on October 27th-29th.

The sensual and hauntingly beautiful performance is sure to render you speechless, as the dancers take you on a trip into the dark and dangerous world of addiction.

A twist on an old classic

This interpretation of the gothic classic is directed by Paul Destrooper, and the main characters are brought to life by Andrea Bayne, Risa Kobayashi, and Luke Thomas (in the roles of Lucy, Mina, and Dracula, respectively).

Along with bloodsucking monsters, Destrooper’s version of Dracula will feature the addictive vices that suck the life out of today’s youth – whether it be alcoholism, drug abuse, or some other type of addiction – with the premise of compassion and empathy being the solution to any problem.

The cast and crew have paid attention to every intricate detail, including drawing on Romanian and Turkish influences to design the dancers’ costumes.

Don’t miss out!

The show is already sold out for its debut at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay on October 20th, and will also be playing at the Artspring Theatre on Saltspring Island on November 10th.
