A cyclist is lucky to be alive after a very close call with an SUV in Saanich Friday morning.
The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m at the intersection of Cedar Hill and North Dairy/Finlayson Roads.
Dash cam video posted by Amit Arya shows a blue SUV approach the intersection at the same time as the cyclist. The SUV made a right turn onto Finlayson Road, sideswiping the bicyclists, causing him to fall to the ground and nearly being run over by the back wheel of the vehicle.
Fortunately, the rider only suffered minor injuries. It appears the driver of the SUV was unaware of the crash and continued on driving.
We have reached out to Saanich Police for more details. Witnesses tell Victoria Buzz police did respond are and investigating.
