An unsafe lane change by a cement truck led to a dramatic scene on the Pat Bay Highway Tuesday morning.

Saanich police, fire and B.C. Ambulance paramedics responded at about 7:30 a.m. after a 2001 Saturn vehicle ended up on a walking path near Elk Lake.

Blind Spot Leads to Morning Mayhem

Witness reports indicate that the cement truck moved into the right lane while the vehicle was in its blind spot, pushing the car off the highway.

Luckily, the 43-year-old driver from Central Saanich suffered only minor injuries.

The cement truck driver pulled over further down the highway and remained at the scene, he was then given a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for an unsafe lane change.
