Swans new Beer Launch: Thomas Uphill Amber Ale
- What: Thomas Uphill was the Fernwood MLA for 40 years from 1920-1960, the longest tenure in British Columbia history. His career coincided with Prohibition, and Mr. Uphill was disturbed about the common man’s inability to enjoy a well deserved beer at the end of the day. He famously stood up in Legislature and declared: “Beer is as necessary to the worker as milk to the baby… Hands off the workers’ beer!” Come taste Swans’ new brew and share a toast to Thomas Uphill!

Nautical Nights Speaker Series: Colin & Julie Angus
- What: What does it feel to ride out a hurricane in a rowboat? This is exactly what Julie and Colin Angus experienced during their record-breaking row across the Atlantic Ocean, voyaging from Portugal to Costa Rica, as part of their human powered journey around the world. Julie and Colin will be sharing stories from their Atlantic Row, and will also be outlining their next project; an attempt to cross the Atlantic once again, but in an entirely different craft. The team are developing an unmanned autonomous boat, and are hoping to be the first to cross the Atlantic with a crew-less ship.
