Kim Cattrall hung out with the raptors this weekend… No, not the basketball players.
The former Sex and the City star paid a visit to the Pacific Northwest Raptors in Duncan for some close encounters of the bird kind.
According to their website, The Raptors are comprised of “a small group of caring, knowledgeable biologists and raptor enthusiasts dedicated to the conservation of birds of prey, and the birds themselves.”
In a series of tweets and Instagram posts, she described her unforgettable experience with several birds of prey, including a Harris Hawk named Vader (see below).

Though Cattrall is a notable Hollywood name, she likely wasn’t the only one in Duncan with onscreen experience. The Raptors themselves have appeared in several notable flicks, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Big Year, and The A Team.
I shall never forget our afternoon with those amazing creatures. @Islandraptors Thank you! https://t.co/anZcEUCO9k

Unlike the recent visits of Ryan Reynolds and Johnny Depp, Cattrall’s Vancouver Island experience probably wasn’t for work. In fact, she grew up in Courtenay and recently bought a house in the Comox Valley.
You might have heard about her frightening encounter with a teenage joyrider in 2016.
Raptor Encounter A Learning Experience
Although Cattrall’s time with Vader gave her an appreciation for the bird’s beauty, it also resulted in a lesson in speciation. She mistakenly called him a Falcon instead of a Harris Hawk, leading to some minor Twitter teasing and an awkward apology.
My sincere apologies to Vader @Islandraptors. He is not a Falcon as I posted. He is a Harris Hawk. Please forgive a Raptor newbie….KC
