The man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with the death of a Montreal woman in Edmonton was arrested in Vancouver Tuesday night.
Edmonton police said 49-year-old Gregory Tessman, had been arrested at a homeless shelter on East Hastings Street in Vancouver.
“I would like to thank the media for their assistance with this investigation, which ultimately led to the quick arrest of Mr Tessman,” says Staff Sergeant Bill Clark of the EPS Homicide Section.
The body of 29-year-old Valerie Maurice was found inside an Edmonton apartment on Thursday.
Police responded to a “check on welfare” call at a home near 144 Avenue and 88A Street, and when officers arrived, they found Maurice dead in Tessman’s Edmonton apartment.
An autopsy determined Maurice was strangled to death.
Suspect Travelled to Victoria Over the Labour Day Long Weekend
Edmonton police said Tessman may have travelled to Victoria this weekend by bus. They said he also has ties to Camrose, Alta.
He faces a charge of second-degree murder.
