History and breakfast await as Ogden Point celebrates 100 years

Share

After 100 years of facing the mighty ocean waves, the battering power of wind, and Victoria’s Blizzard of 96, the Ogden Point Breakwater still stands.

The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA) has invited you to join them for breakfast, historic storytelling, and to check out old photos of the Ogden Point breakwater as it’s survived through the years.

A historic storytelling walk with historian Denton Pendergast should tickle your interests, followed by learning about the stories and symbols of the Unity Wall with Gary Sam of Songhees Nation.

Of course, that breathtaking view will also be along for the ride.

Breakwater 100 Tent and Photography contest

An breakwater 100 tent will be opposite the pilot boats at Ogden point, ready to nourish, caffeinate, and educate. Free donuts (first come first serve), coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and kids activities such as face painting will be happening in the tent.

Those interested in contributing to this community treasure are encouraged to do so! Whether it’s old family photos, special moments, or shots of an epic sunrise, the GVHA wants to hear from you.

You can share your photos and memories on the GVHA’s Facebook and Instagram page.

Contest ends October 31st at 12:00am. Prizes will be from the community partners.
