Police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found Tuesday at S.J. Willis Education Centre on Topaz Avenue.
A passerby noticed the body shortly after 3 p.m. and called police.
Witnesses said there was a heavy police presence on grounds of the school and a large area has been taped off.
“The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with the assistance of VicPD investigators are investigating after a deceased person was located Tuesday afternoon,” said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Douglas. “VicPD patrol members were called to the 900 block of Topaz Ave. after a report of a sudden death. Officers quickly attended and out of an abundance of caution cordoned off the area.”
Police have not said if foul play is suspected. The gender of the person is unknown.
