The middle section of West Shore Parkway will open to traffic on Wednesday

The middle section of the West Shore Parkway connecting Highway 14 (Sooke Road) to Langford Parkway will open to traffic starting Wednesday morning.

The 1.6-kilometre section of roadway is set to open at 10 a.m. after the morning rush.

The new section of the road will allow traffic to flow “in a controlled manner,” the City of Langford said in statement.

The road can also be used as a bypass in the event the Langford portion of Sooke Road is closed.

The mid-section opening does not include the railway crossing.

This final section, which extends from Langford Parkway to Landing Lane, is scheduled to open in early October.

Let’s be honest, this is more about opening up more areas for development than helping residents with traffic issues. Stews ridiculous sprawl can only be paid for by infinite growth. As much as we need housing this is an example of how not to do it. Incredibly dated thinking.
