Victoria Police are asking the public for urgent assistance in locating a missing senior citizen.
93-year-old Virginia Leong was last seen at 6:30 am on Monday morning. Police said it was reported that she left for a walk from the 400-block of Treebank Road East.
Leong is not from Victoria and is not familiar with the area. Her family is very concerned for her welfare.
Members from the Military Police, Metchosin Ground Search and Rescue Team, Peninsula Emergency Measures Organization and the Victoria Fire Department are all assisting in the search.
The BC RCMP’s helicopter based in Comox has been utilized to search the Gorge and surrounding area.
Investigators are specifically asking people who live in the area of the Gorge Waterway to look in their backyards, outbuildings, or any surrounding areas near their property.
Leong is described as 4’11” with a slim build, white hair, and was wearing a white jacket.
VicPD said they are getting increasingly concerned due to Virginia’s medical concerns.
