Plenty of 5-year-old boys out there have favourite superheroes, but not many of them are Deadpool.
Even fewer of them are featured on Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram. But for Ethan Hagel, a well-placed pose at Hatley Castle resulted in a post on the Deadpool actor’s account that now has over 900,000 likes.
Hagel has only seen short clips of the R-rated movie, but nevertheless the Colwood boy is a huge fan. So, when his aunt gave him a Deadpool costume for his birthday last month, he knew exactly what he had to do.
Reynolds had posted a photo back in June of himself in costume, posing in front of Hatley Castle. Hagel wanted follow in his footsteps. After about 20 takes, the result was this cute photo.
But the fun didn’t end there. Through family connections, the photo ended up in the hands of Reynolds’ publicist, and then onto Reynolds himself. Then, two days ago, this Instagram post ended up on Reynolds feed:
Ethan was pumped. Less about the thousands of likes and more that “Deadpool” had seen his photo.
“I’ve just never been famous, and I haven’t done this in my whole entire life,” Ethan told Chek News.
“Its neat for him that he got his dream fulfilled and he can look back on that and be excited,” said his mom, Cheryl.
